Home Visits

If you want a vet to visit your home we will do our best to comply, but please remember that in most cases your pet will get better and quicker treatment (as all the facilities of the practice will be available) at a lower cost if you come to the surgery.

We also have a Home Nursing Service. Two nurses can visit homes in an especially equipped vehicle in order to perform minor procedures that would otherwise entail a visit to the surgery.

Such procedures include dressing changes, de-suturing, regular injections, blood sampling, weighing, nail clipping and general health advice.

We try to tailor the service to the needs of our clients.

Emergency Treatment

Any emergency cases coming to the surgery will be seen immediately during normal working hours even though an appointment has not been made, but please always try to telephone before coming.

Outside normal working hours

Telephone the surgery initially and listen carefully to the recorded message.

This will tell you how to contact the veterinary surgeon on duty. It is useful to have a pen and paper available to note the emergency numbers.

An extra charge is made for the use of the emergency service to help cover the high cost of providing it, although there is no charge for emergency advice given by phone.

All emergencies are dealt with on our premises by our own staff.

Consultations by Appointment

All surgeries are on an appointment system.   This is to ensure that waiting times are kept to a minimum and to enable you to see the veterinary surgeon of your choice wherever possible.   It also helps to maintain continuity if your pet has an ongoing or recurrent condition.   Please be aware that some pets require a longer consultation than others, and that emergencies have to be fitted in so you may not be seen exactly on time.   We hope you will understand if this happens, as one day it may be your pet that needs the extra time.   Please speak to a receptionist if waiting becomes difficult for you.

Nurse Clinics

Our nurses are trained to discuss many preventative health measures for your pet including dental health, nutrition, weight management, diabetes mellitus and senior pet problems.   They also perform microchipping, clip nails, administer 2nd vaccinations and can give parasite advice.   One of our nurses specialises in rabbits and can give invaluable advice on their housing, feeding and health.   Should you wish to speak to a nurse they hold clinics daily by appointment.
