Training
Training your dog should begin from the day you take possession of your puppy at around eight weeks of age.
You can begin with the basics of 'sit' and 'down', coming when called and walking without pulling on a lead.
Ideally all dogs should attend training classes to learn good obedience and control whilst in the company of
distractions such as people and dogs.
These basics are easy for you and your dog to learn when taught how to apply them correctly.
Dogs love to use their brains, and it is never too late to introduce training if you have an older dog but, it is much harder to re-train and
break bad habits.
We hold regular Puppy Socialisation Classes which puppies can attend between their 1st and 2nd vaccinations and at which new puppies can learn to mix with other puppies and people.
Owners can gain valuable advice on caring for their new charges and begin the basics of how to train puppies.
It is advised that puppies progress onto formal training classes after the vaccination course is completed and they are able to go out for walks.
It is worth noting that a friendly dog not under sufficient control renders the owner liable to prosecution as someone with a dangerous dog.
